As an avid cyclist and committed supporter of numerous children’s charities, Charles Reed Cagle derives a great deal of personal satisfaction from backing Kids on Bikes, Inc., a Colorado Springs-based program that provides new bicycles and safety gear to underserved youth in the city and surrounding areas. Collaborating with regional advocacy groups such as Hope & Home, the TESSA women’s shelter, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Kids on Bikes (KOB) strives to instill a sense of confidence in young boys and girls who lack the resources to enjoy one of childhood’s greatest pleasures.

Thanks to the efforts of the local community, KOB was recently able to donate more than 300 bikes to elementary school students at Ivywild, Sand Creek, and Atlas Preparatory School. KOB also organizes a host of annual events, such as the Family Ride for Pro Challenge and Campus Cross at the Colorado Springs campus of the University of Colorado, to help youth from economically challenged backgrounds experience the fun of “life in the driver’s seat.”
