Experienced oil, gas, and mining executive Charles Reed Cagle, President and CEO of Colorado Springs, Colorado-based HEI Resources, actively supports a variety of charitable and educational organizations. One local beneficiary is the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS), whose Mountain Lions teams made headlines across several sports in September 2012.

The school’s golf team achieved a 10th place finish at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, held on the United States Air Force Academy’s Eisenhower Golf Course. The UCCS golfers achieved success despite being the sole Division II team among 15 other Division I competitors.

UCCS runner Angie Martell led the school’s women’s cross-country team in a meet held in Monument Valley Park, the fifth annual Rust Buster. Individually, Martell finished eighth out of 82 runners, leading her team to capture five of the 11 best-finish slots (ranging from eighth to 18th).

In other news, the UCCS campus prepared for an offensive and defensive basketball coaching clinic led by legendary coach George Karl, who now leads the Denver Nuggets.

Reed Cagle and HEI are proud of the Mountain Lions’ athletic and academic achievements, and they encourage members of the Colorado Springs community to show their support as well.
